Nancy Kress
As well as an award-winning
author, Nancy Kress is one of the country's most
celebrated teachers of writing. She is the author
of 15 novels, three collections of short stories,
and two Writer's Digest books on writing fiction:
Beginnings, Middles, and Ends. and Dynamic
Characters. She has been the "Fiction"
columnist for Writer's Digest since 1992.
Previous novels include the Beggars
trilogy, based on her novella "Beggars In
Spain," which won two major writing awards.
In addition to her honors for "Beggars in
Spain," she won two major peer-voted awards
for her short stories.
For nearly twenty-five years,
Ms. Kress has been in wide demand as a teacher
of fiction. She has taught both writing and literature
at the State University of New York, and has been
a featured instructor at summer writing festivals
at Cleveland University, the Clarion West and
Clarion East writer's conferences, and the Brockport
Writer's Forum summer workshops. She receives
volumes of fan mail regarding her writing column
and regular requests for reprints. Her work has
been translated into Swedish, French, Italian,
German, Spanish, Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian,
Japanese, Lithuanian, and Russian. A frequent
guest of honor, she undertakes a rigorous annual
schedule of conference appearances in the United
States and Europe.
Terry
Boothman
Terry Boothman is a teacher, author, consultant,
and researcher with over twenty-five years experience
in the fields of education and adult learning.
His expertise ranges from Applied Behavior Analysis
to Electronic Performance Support and Cognitive
Psychology. He has done seminal research in the
area of Transfer of Training; his current specialty
is electronic learning support and complex performance
acceleration. Over the past decade, he has traveled
throughout North America, speaking to professional
audiences on numerous topics in the field of learning.
He is the author of Making Training Work,
Ziff-Davis Publishing, 1998.
Mr. Boothman
has been a regular presenter at major national
conferences, including the Computer Training and
Support Conference, Interactive, and the International
Society for Performance Improvement. His writings
have appeared in academic journals and trade magazines.
He is the former Associate Director, Instructional
Systems for Logical Operations of Ziff-Davis,
and currently Executive Director, Novation Learning
Systems, Inc., and Publisher of Writer
Online magazine.
